SEO - Examining the Page Title Tag and Meta Description Tag
< Back To Webstream Dynamics
The Title Tag and Meta Description Tag are located in the top of a web page and contain words describing the content for that page. The words used in these two tags should clearly describe the page's content and often contain targeted keyword phrases to help improve search engine rankings.
Why are theses two tags so important?
Because, these two HTML tags are used to help tell the search engines what the web page is all about. Google uses the Title Tag as the first line in each organic listing, and they may also use the Meta Description Tag as well. If well written, they can help web sites achieve better search engine rankings in the natural listings. Unfortunately, both of these tags are often neglected, especially in many CMS-type and dynamically generated web sites.
So how can I see them?
Since most people don't understand HTML and cannot find these tags in a page's source code, I created a little web application to show them to you. Also included is the complete HTML web page source code so you get a sense of how search engines see a web page. Just follow the instructions below.
